Horizons
Well, what a week. In the midst of all our holiday preparations, Dearest receives the news that she is to be made redundant at the end of the year. Fortunately this is a state of affairs she has been hankering after for years and she will acquire a sizable sum as well as a small pension to soften the blow. When we factor in the petrol saved on 50 miles a day commuting to and from Altrincham, things are looking up. Sadly for some of her colleagues, the news has come as a bitter blow.Naturally, this being a caring corporation we're talking about, a firm of redeployment consultanys have been employed to provide the affected staff with the tools they need to kick ass in today's cut-throat job market. In effect this means they will all emerge with identical cvs full of modern businessspeak like "energetic, team-focussed, dedicated, professional, self-motivated high achiever" and the like. All of which, it can't be denied, will come in handy as they flip another burger, ask if the customer wants "fries with that?"
All thoughts of the future on back burner for two weeks now as we jet off to Kassiopi on Monday. See you when I get back.

Enjoy your holiday!
Have a good un, we're off to Tunisia a few days after you.
Gosh - bad luck on the redundancy. If I were American, I would offer some patronising homily about "silver clouds" and "new opportunities". But I won't. It sucks - enjoy your holiday!
