Scenes From an Italian Restaurant

Eldest, Youngest, Dearest and myself went to the local Italian tonight. A gorgeous, authentic-ish Italian about half a mile from where we live. 5 or 6 year's ago it was a pub (as it had been for at least a century). A pub where I used to play Woody Guthrie, The Beatles, Stones, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Cole Porter (yeah you read that right.....Sammy Cahn as well) and Billy Bragg.

This week Billy celebrates 20 years in the business.....................

I Don't Want to Change the World...I'm just Looking for New England...............

"I still watch Top of the Pops. Just to keep me angry. And I must say my godson, my partner's eldest, shares my anger.

"I've said to him, 'You can fight all you like with your dad, you've got to love him, the same with your mum.

"But Daniel Bedingfield, you're never going to meet him. Make him pay! Go form a band! Wipe the floor with him in the charts.

"Actually, all he did was go and paint his fingernails black. But it's a start."

Billy, I, like many, many others are still waiting for the great leap forwards. Here's to the next 40 years.
