Drive My Car
Still sat here at 12:00 midday waiting for the brother-in-law who was due at 11:00. This was so I could take him to the airport to catch his flight to Alicante. No doubt the ride will now resemble a chase scene from some predictable Hollywood blockbuster. The B-I-L is a sales rep and he's lending me his car while he's away. This means he will definately drive it to the airport - probably at speeds that defy logic.
Dearest is off to see City this afternoon instead of me. She wanted to go before she goes in hospital next week. Today's game against managerless Spurs is the last home match before then.
Let's hope there's no booing of the team like there was on Wednesday evening.
It's getting hard to believe that all these power cuts round the world are accidental isn't it? Just recently we've had USA/Canada, London and now ALL of Italy. Once looks accidental. Twice looks like carelessness. But three times starts to look like someone's taking the piss. I mean...c'mon....this is an entire country we're talking about.
Finally dropped B-I-L off at the airport. Coming back the police had closed the M56 so I came back via the City centre. Coming through Moss Side I couldn't resist a peek at Maine Road. what a sad site. Boarded up and presumably awaiting the bulldozers. The businesses in the area don't look too good either. The Parkside pub is up for sale. (Wonder if they throw in the delightful "doormen" who demanded a donation towards "poorly kiddies" on match days?) The Blue Moon chippy is now a tanning salon ? In an area where 79%+ of the population is black or asian, I wouldn 't have thought there would be much demand. But hey what do I know?
It's a typical Manchester Sunday. Grey skies up above The leaves on the trees are turning and a flying V of honking geese has just passed. No doubt on their way to milder climes.
